A report that helps you make a decision
A codebase can look healthy and still be expensive to operate. We examine the architecture, the people and the operational evidence together. The question is whether the technology supports your investment thesis, and what needs to change if it does not.
We start with an NDA and an agreed scope. Access is limited to the evidence required. Findings belong to you; client names and engagement details are not published without written consent.
What we examine
- Architecture, scalability and the boundaries between systems.
- Code health, maintainability and dependence on individuals.
- Security controls, identity, data handling and assurance evidence.
- Hosting costs, resilience, recovery and operational support.
- Third-party services, AI vendors, licences and IP provenance.
- The team’s ability to deliver the roadmap and own remediation.
What you receive
An investment-committee summary, a technical annex for the CTO, and a prioritised risk register. Each material finding connects evidence to business impact, a recommended action and the basis for estimating remediation effort. We agree a fixed scope, fee and turnaround before work begins.
Report structure specimen
This is an illustrative report outline, not a client assessment.
| Section | Decision it supports |
|---|---|
| Executive assessment | Does the software support the investment case? |
| Evidence and limitations | What was examined, and what remains unknown? |
| Risk register | What needs attention before or after completion? |
| Remediation roadmap | What should happen, who owns it, and in what order? |
| Technical annex | What does the portfolio CTO need to act? |
Questions before we start
Can we begin under NDA?
Yes. Confidentiality and the permitted use of material are agreed before access is granted. We can work with your legal team on the access arrangements.
How long does an assessment take?
Timing depends on the asset, access and transaction deadline. The scoping call establishes the evidence required and a delivery date. We do not promise a turnaround before understanding the work.
Do you remediate the issues you find?
We can support the engineering work under a separate scope. Findings and priorities remain yours, and the assessment does not depend on a follow-on engagement.
What happens after the report?
We can present the findings to your investment team and the technical leadership. If you need continuing stewardship, managed IP and engineering provides a route beyond the initial assessment.
